
EKC will provide assistance to our children and our families in the forms of Grants. Where applicable, all Grant monies will be paid directly to the entity providing the goods or services to the family. Grants will be awarded for the following but not limited to:
Housing Grants: Housing Grants will be appropriated to pay lodging for the children and their loved ones while traveling and receiving care. Housing Grants will also be appropriated to provide Rent or Mortgage obligations to those families who qualify their financial hardship with the Board. Grants will be appropriated in one, three and six month increment as the Board determines. In such instances, when applicable, EKC will also provide career resource funding and administrative support to assist family members attain gainful employment. Grants are paid directly to the Hotel, Landlord or to the Mortgage Holder(s).
Transportation Grants: Transportation Grants are provided to ensure charity and comfort in transport. Such grants will be designed to aid the child’s airfare and ground transportation expense from their home to their treatment provider and back home again. Grants will be extended to both parents and siblings so family members will be able to attend to the child's needs throughout the care process. Grants are paid directly to the transportation provider who will bill EKC for services rendered.
Child Care Grants: Child Care Grants will ensure supervision of a Child’s siblings during those times when the parents are required to be attendant to the needs of the ill child. Grants are paid directly to licensed childcare providers who will bill EKC for services rendered.
Counseling Grants: Counseling Grants will ensure that families are given as much psychological support as possible in their time of crisis. Grants are paid directly to licensed psychologists and therapists who will bill EKC for services rendered.
Medical Grants: Medical Grants will be designed to provide families with support for costs associated with hospital, hospice, medical facility care, prosthetics and durable medical equipment. Grants are paid directly to those providing the service and/or equipment the ill child needs and who will bill EKC for services rendered and products supplied.
Special Needs Grants: Every families condition will be assessed by EKC Members. Where Special Needs are identified, EKC will endeavor to meet them. Such needs could include, but are not limited to, Funeral Services, Head Stones, Burial Costs, Food and Sustenance items, Utility Bills, Legal Assistance, Bankruptcy Assistance, Public & Media Relations, etc. Special Needs assistance will endeavor to ensure that a family's dignity is maintained throughout their ordeal. Grants are paid directly to the third party provider in these situations.
Empowerment Grants: In those instances where a child has lost a parent and/or a sibling EKC will assess the child’s condition and endeavor to positively empower the affected child’s life. Empowerment grants will come in the forms of, but not be limited to, Education, Athletic, Music, Art, Science and Social programs and those endeavors that stimulate positive growth and development in the child.
